Tax Preparation Assistance

Tax preparation can be overwhelming. AARP partners with the North Ottawa County Council on Aging to provide trained volunteers to help file these forms. These Volunteers work from mid-February until April 15th. They help people with basic state and federal forms, specializing in Homestead Property Tax Credits and Home Heating Tax Credit forms.

Appointments are made ahead of time. This service is offered in both the Grand Haven and Coopersville areas. In addition to the work the volunteers perform, copies will be made of all documents for the client to keep. Records are kept on each client to facilitate future year's return or if an amended return is needed.

In millage supported areas, the administration of this program is free to clients but donations are always welcome. In non-millage areas, the administrative fee is $25 per return, regardless of the number of forms completed.

Call in January to make an appointment. Call Grand Haven at 616-842-9210 and Coopersville at 616-997-1786.
